In this episode of Newshour 9, host Pranesh Roy will discuss how Political parties have split into two factions as the momentous event of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inauguration of the new Parliament building on May 28 approaches. The odds are stacked against the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) administration, which is led by the BJP, despite the boycott of the event by the main opposition party Congress and 20 other parties. While 20 parties, including the Congress, have chosen to forego the celebration on the grounds that President Droupadi Murmu should have unveiled the new Parliament building, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Asasuddin Owaisi, has called for Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla to perform the honours. We are joined by a few panelists who will be expressing their views on this issue. "There is nothing wrong, if there are poojas, havans, on the inauguration of the new Parliament building. Across all religions, when you go into a new place, you do things that make that place auspicious," stated Riju Dutta, Trinamool Congress.
