The right of workers to refuse unsafe work, without fear of losing their jobs, would seem to be a basic right of all workers. Unfortunately this is not the case. Workers need to check on the law in their state or country. Many employers view a refusal to do unsafe work as an act of insubordination. Union workers may have a right to refuse unsafe work in their contracts and generally have better rights to health and safety on the job.
