B.C. Premier John Horgan and Finance Minister Carole James discussed how British Columbians can get involved in supporting the province's economic recovery plans amid the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday.
It's part of the effort to restart the province's economy after the COVID-19 outbreak resulted in businesses and services to close as part of safety measures.
James stated that the province’s COVID-19 recovery plan provides “an opportunity to address gaps” within the economy and society that were exposed amid the pandemic, and outlined some of their priorities including climate change, addressing the rights of Indigenous peoples, inequality, and building a "resilient, innovative economy."
Horgan said residents can get involved and provide their feedback by completing an online survey, as well as an outreach process that includes virtual town hall meetings.
On Wednesday, B.C. health officials confirmed COVID-19 outbreaks at two new health-care facilities, as well as 19 new cases of the virus. The province has now recorded 2,775 cases, more than 87 per cent of whom have recovered.
