Replacing an old AC return pump with a new Jebao DCP2500 controllable DC powered return pump. The old pump was several years old and runs super noisy with a loud grating sound.
This new pump is super quiet. It also comes with a controller that lets you set the power or flow rate from 30% to 100% of maximum. It’s max power consumption is only 23 watts. It is also fairly compact at 5” x 4” x 3”, and fits in the third compartment of my 10 gallon sump with plenty of room for the heater in there as well.
Of course, only time will tell if this was a good upgrade or not, so I will definitely be doing a review down the road.
Also decided to replace the flexible hoses from the pump to the display tank, as well as the drain hose. Installed new braided hoses which were much stiffer than the old hoses and more difficult to maneuver in place. And got rid of rusty hose clams in the process. I’m sure it could have been done better, but overall, I’m happy with the outcome.
Best thing about this upgrade is how much quieter the tank is now.
Thanks for watching!
