Dr. Michael Lawrence Wilson is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, with a joint appointment in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Behavior. He is interested in what we can learn about human evolution from studying the behavior and ecology of our closest living relatives, the chimpanzees. His research focuses on field studies of chimpanzees at Gombe National Park, Tanzania, with topics including aggression, territorial behavior, communication, and disease ecology. He believes that the study of chimpanzees provides many fascinating insights into the possible lives of our ancestors and provides a context for understanding ourselves today.
