한미, 7일부터 최대규모 연합훈련…"北도발시 수십배 응징"
South Korea and the U.S. will kick off their largest-ever annual military exercises on Monday... in a warning to North Korea that they are ready for any provocations.
The Key Resolve and Foal Eagle exercises will involve 290-thousand South Korean and 15-thousand U.S. troops... and will carry on till the end of April.
The allies will conduct the drills with various scenarios in mind -- including a preemptive strike on North Korea's nuclear facilities and missile sites.
The U.S. has deployed some key military hardware to the peninsula for the exercises, including B-2 stealth bombers and nuclear submarines.
The exercises have raised tensions on the peninsula in the past, with North Korea objecting to what it says is a rehearsal for a northward invasion.
Seoul and Washington maintain the drills are defensive in nature.
