Are you one of those people who taste the aluminum and ash? Who can almost smell the psychosphere?
If not, you still probably have at least seen or heard of True Detective. Season 1 was, in my view, one of the best single seasons of any show ever. Drawing deeply from the waters of cosmic horror created by H.P. Lovecraft and Robert Chambers. Lovecraft has influenced Steven King, John Carpenter, and countless other horror authors and film directors. The creator of True Detective, Nic Pizallotto, has very clearly drawn upon Lovecraftian concepts. Among those concepts is that of the psychosphere.
Another, tangentially related, concept is that of the noosphere which emanated from Teilhard de Chardin. Noosphere theorists also postulate the notion of an Omega Point which is very similar to the idea of the Singularity for Artificial Intelligence theorists.
In my productions, I frequently interweave these concepts so it is pertinent for my listeners to understand both.
