Here's some of my top design advice for prepping your flowers for resin casting. Comment 🌸🌸🌸 below if you'd like to see more videos like this.
1. Dry your flowers in silica gel to speed up the drying process and preserve your flower's color the best. Drying can range from 2 days to 2 weeks depending on the size and depth of the flowers. Check them often as you don't want to dry them out too much.
2. Once your flowers are fully dry try laying them out carefully in different arrangements in your mold/base to see how they flow. I start with the tallest and largest flowers first and layer in smaller flowers as I go. To achieve a nice balance pay attention to contrast as well by choosing a variety of dark and light flowers to work with.
3. Work in odd numbers. If you're struggling to get the balance right stick to working in odd numbers. For example use 3 of a larger flower, 5 of a smaller one, etc. Add petals, sticks, and other unique foliage to add some interest to your piece.
4. Once you're happy with a design take a picture of it and remove all the flowers. If you're working in a base vs. a mold then carefully glue everything down before your first layer of resin. I like to start with the background leaves and flowers and then build them up. I use a small hot glue gun for larger elements and super glue for more delicate ones.
5. If you're using a mold pour a thin layer of deep-pour resin into your mold and let it sit for 24 hours. Then carefully place your flowers into the stick resin. Use your photo for reference. Go slowly and use tweezers!

I didn't choose art, it chose me. Since the age of 5 I knew I was meant to be an artist and have pursued that passion ever since. I've worked as a graphic designer professionally my entire adult life and have always done abstract art on the side. In mid 2020 I was working on a commissioned piece and was asked if I could make something in the style of pour painting. I had been pinning acrylic pouring/fluid art on Pinterest for a few years but had know idea how to create it. Thanks to the many wonderful artists on YouTube who were willing to share their creation videos, tips, and tutorials on liquid acrylic painting I was able to start creating work in this style and I wanted to share that experience with you. Make sure to like and subscribe to my channel to follow along my journey of failures and triumphs and see all the fun techniques I try for the first time. There will also be tips and tricks I learn along the way along with easier beginner projects you might want to try at home! Comment below if there’s something you’ve seen that you want me to try I’d love to hear from you!
