The AOC C32G1 is a $300 price breaker 32-inch Full HD Curved gaming monitor.
The FreeSync will prevent stutter during gaming if you have an AMD graphics card. The image is very fluent, thanks to the 144Hz refresh rate. The difference between 60 or 144Hz is enormous. Also due to the curved design, your gaming experience is, in my opinion, way more intense.
It has almost no bezels, so you can easily put two side-by-side. The contrast on the screen is great and the colours are good and vivid, especially for the 1080p quality. And that’s also a thing I want to point out. It’s only 1080P, so no 4K, but for the affordable price of 300$ or less, that was to expect.
And then a few negative things. You can’t change the height of the monitor, which is for a me a big bummer and there are no speakers to hear the sound when gaming, but that’s not really a big issue for true gamers I think.
Make sure you have enough room, because the stand is pretty big, luckily it won’t cost you a thousand dollars, ahum Apple. The screen has slight reflections of sunlight especially in the bending parts, but it’s okay. There are a lot of options in the menu to change colours, depending on what you use it for.
One thing you could notice and I also read online is the ghosting at 144hz and 1ms response time. Due to the high refresh rate the monitor can’t keep up during high paced games, but I can’t say it bothered me or I actually saw it.
Compared to some other monitors I’ve tested for the same price, the AOC, which is not the most famous brand by the way, has a lot of ports. 1 HDMI 1.4 Display Port2, VGA and a 3.5mm Jack for speakers or a headset. The aesthetics of the monitor are personal, but it looks flashy to say the least.
I’m not going to go into gamma’s or sRGB gambuts and all that, because I don’t even understand that myself, but let’s just say this monitor looks a bit pixelated and soft when you sit close. It’s definitely not a big issue, but it’s noticeable if you care about it.
There are some complaints about the backlight being too dull, but in my opinion the colours make up for it. You also can’t have everything for that price.
Overall for the price of only 300$ this is a steal for a first gaming monitor. I’m not a very heavy gamer or someone who knows everything about monitors, but I really enjoyed gaming on the AOC C32G1, so for the average gamer like me, I can only advise this piece of hardware!
