The Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad is currently in the process of restoring the historic Mark Twain Zephyr train set (and one train car of the Pioneer Zephyr). The Mark Twain Zephyr operated from 1935 to 1958 on various routes of the CB&Q, mainly in Iowa and Missouri...
After passing through seven owners over the course of 60 years (1960-2020) who did not have the time, means, or money to restore it... the Wisconsin Great Northern is finally undertaking and completing the task. Until its completion, we will provide weekly video updates (usually on Sunday afternoons) to show you the progress made in the past week on the MTZ.
On the Sunday, September 5, 2021 update, we learn that work has begun on the third and final edition of "Mark Twain Zephyr: History, Restoration & Rebirth". We also visit with Bob, who provides an update about the kitchen area of the "Huck Finn". We also get the chance to sit down with Jim Lesiak of Over the Top Construction; he reflects on the 1 year anniversary of moving the cars from the St. Louis area to NW Wisconsin.
