The historic ceremony of the Keys took place earlier Thursday evening in Casemates Square.
The annual event is a re-enactment of the locking of the gates to the Old Town and garrison of Gibraltar.
This tradition dates back to the Great Siege of Gibraltar, which began in 1779.
At the time the keys were kept by the Governor who would hand them to the Port Sergeant each evening at sunset so that all land entrances could be locked shut.
Nowadays, the ceremony is symbolic and sees the Port Sergeant marching to lock the gates, accompanied by an armed escort, before returning the keys to the Governor.
It was Governor, Lieutenant General Edward Davis’s, first ceremony of the keys.
