Pakistan Army has officially admitted involvement of its troops in 1999 Kargil War for the first time. Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir said, "Whether in wars in 1948, 1965, 1971, or the Kargil War or the skirmishes in Siachen Glacier, thousands of martyrs laid down their lives for Pakistan." The country's Army earlier denied direct involvement in Kargil War.
