Dozens of protests took place around the world on November 6, 2021, to demand more action from delegates attending the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. As the international summit headed into its second week, tens of thousands of protesters marched in the city in Scotland, joining groups who turned out in the South Korean capital Seoul as well as in Australia, Indonesia, the Netherlands and France. During the first week of the COP 26 gathering, some countries upgraded their existing pledges to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and there were separate deals reached to phase out coal, ending funding for foreign fossil fuel and slashing methane emissions. But many thorny issues remain and protesters have vowed to keep up the pressure on world leaders. The COP26 meetings are set to end on November 12.
