If you are planing to climb the Kilimanscharo we would suggest the Mt. Kenya as acclimatisation, because you experience a very different landscape, fauna and wildlife. Mt.Kenya recieves much more rainfall, is therefore much greener, is less developed and the mountaineer stays away from the pilgrimage of the turisty masses. All in all the better choice for those who love the wilderness of majestic mountains. From Nanyuki to Old Moses (3300m) Hut and Leakey North Hut (3800m) on to Shipton´s Camp (4200m). Then over the Simba Col to Austrian hut (4750m). Climb on Lenana Peak (4980m) and down to MacKinders Camp (4200m) leaving the Mt.Kenia National Park at the Meteorological Station (3300m). Peak Batian is a demanding rock climb only for the experienced climbers.
