In the age of big data and advanced AI, the success of the aviation and space industries hinges on effective data analytics. However, many small- to medium-sized businesses struggle with limited access to aviation data, insufficient R&D funding and a shortage of skilled personnel for big data analysis, putting them at a disadvantage compared to larger corporation rivals. As larger tech companies with extensive business moats continue to grow, smaller ones face an uphill battle to maintain their specific business sectors. Aviation & Space Data Analytics (ASDA), a consortium of industry, government and academia, serves as an R&D incubator and Workforce Training Alliance, aiming to enhance aviation safety, security, efficiency and sustainability. ASDA's mission, powered by a National Science Foundation grant, is to boost the data analytics capabilities and competitiveness of small- to medium-sized aviation and space companies by pooling their R&D resources, sharing non-proprietary data and fostering a skilled workforce.
