LECA (Lightweight Expanded Clay Aggregate) or clay balls can be used as a growing medium in hydroponics. They provide good aeration and drainage for the plant roots, and are relatively inexpensive and reusable. However, they do not provide any nutrients to the plants, so a hydroponic nutrient solution will need to be added to the water to ensure proper plant growth.
