Richard is joined by MA Musical Direction graduates Joe Beighton (SIX, Chicago) and Arlene McNaught (SIX, Little Miss Sunshine), and current MA Musical Direction student Catherine as they discuss their career pathways and time at Mountview.

Joe Beighton is a Musical Director and Supervisor specialising in new musical theatre. In 2019 he received an Olivier Award nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Music for his work on SIX. Musical Supervisor credits include: SIX (UK Tours and West End, Broadway, Chicago [Winner: Jeff Award for Musical Direction], Sydney Opera House; NCL Cruise Ships)); St Anne Comes Home (Actors Church, Covent Garden); 42 Balloons [also as orchestrator, in development with Perfect Pitch]. Musical Director credits include: Sweeney Todd (Central School of Speech and Drama); Merrily We Roll Along (LAMDA); Bare (LAMDA); Southern Belles (Kings Head London); Cinderella (Civil Theatre Chelmsford). Joe studied music at the University of Cambridge where he was president of the Musical Theatre Society and a choral scholar. He then trained at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

Arlene McNaught has worked as Musical Director in London, Scotland, Switzerland and the USA. She is currently MD of SIX (UK Tour) and was recently MD for the Barn Theatre's Marry Me a Little and Selladoor's Little Miss Sunshine (UK Tour). She has experience coaching young people and performers in training. Companies she has worked with include National Youth Theatre, Mountview and several children's performing arts schools.
