Praia 19 Beach and Praia da Bela Vista Beach
Praia 19 Beach is a naturist beach.
The name is due to the fact that this is the 19th stop of the tourist train that connects the beaches of Costa da Caparica region of Lisbon in summer.
Praia 19 beach is one of the favorite destinations for the LGBT community. A few meters from the last beach with a sign in Caparica before Fonte da Telha, Praia da Belavista was one of the first in Portugal to make the practice of nudism official and became known for the gay Community. Moreover it is mentioned in gay guides in several languages and is a popular destination for tourists. Or rather, it was.
It is perhaps the most wellknown beach in all of Caparica, attracting men from all corners of the world, of all age groups, who sunbathe or bathe in the sea completely naked.

Isolation means no support equipment of any kind. Therefore, for toilets, restaurants or bars, you will have to walk between 10 and 20 minutes to the north, towards Praia da Bela Vista, or to Fonte da Telha, to the south. This is a protected area, so hotels or bars will never be built on the beach, like the ones that exist in destinations that attract the same type of public, such as Mykonos or Ibiza.
It became known as “gay beach” in the 1990s, but it has been attracting the gay community for many years, who could be here at ease, due to the remote location of the populations. This isolation has also led to the usual practice of naturism, and the beach was officially classified as a naturist beach in 1995, along with neighboring Praia da Bela Vista (these are actually the same beach).
The closest hotel to Praia 19 is the Aroeira Sea & Golf Resort, which offers a free shuttle to Fonte da Telha, from where you can easily walk to Praia 19. On foot, the journey from the hotel to Fonte da Telha takes about 30 minutes.
