The Biden administration is facing backlash as Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas declares the southern border is closed following a record number of migrant children into the U.S.
Democrats and Republicans both agree that the situation is spiraling out of control and many are calling for more to be done for these often-unaccompanied children. FEMA has already been called to come in to assist with the crisis however Biden states that there can and will be more done.
“A lot more and we are in the process of doing it now, including making sure that re-establish what existed before. They can stay in place and plead their case in their home country,” Biden said.
One notable critic was former President Donald Trump who blames the Biden administration for turning what he believes would have been a national triumph in the border wall into a national disaster. Some Democrats say the crisis at the border was due to Trump-era policies that have has left many children detained in cages.
