The Queen has two forms: in the first, a beetle, and in her second, a wasp. She switches forms only after the first form is killed. Each form has 255 Hitpoints, and her Magic and Ranged attacks are very accurate and essentially disregard player defense bonuses. She also attacks with a less accurate melee attack. In Phase One, the Queen has a very high defense against Magic and Ranged attacks. The Queen will have Protect from Magic and Protect from Missiles active; however, they only add increased Defense to those styles rather than full immunity like the player versions of them. If not in max mage as discussed later, you will melee this first form. For Phase One, prayer Protect from Magic.
If stat-draining special attacks are used on her first form, the stat reductions will carry over to the second form. When the first form is killed, it takes 20 game ticks or 12 seconds for the transition into Phase 2. Run under the Queen after killing off her first phase, heal up, and prepare for the second phase by switching to your ranged switch.
In Phase Two, the Queen is resistant to Melee attacks and will prayer against Melee, but also not full immunity. Switch your prayer to Protect from Range. Players should walk under her as soon as this phase begins, otherwise, she will get an extra attack on you first. If not in max mage as discussed later, you will range this phase. If you need to do a quick bank trip this phase, you can, and the Kalphite will not revert forms. The Phase Two Queen will remain for 20 minutes before resetting.
Stand next to the queen when ranging, because then her Magic and Ranged attacks each have a quarter chance of triggering, and her Melee attack has a half chance of triggering. Her Melee attack can also hit high up to 31, but unlike the Magic and Ranged attacks, it is not insanely accurate and defense bonuses matter. Therefore, stand in melee range and consider stab defense and boosts to your defense level. This will expose you to fewer Magic and Ranged attacks and reduce the Queen’s DPS on you.
Unless in max mage, start by bringing your best melee and range switches. Bring 1-3 super restores or prayer potions, you could also plan 1 kill trips and use a POH restore pool. Plan to use piety and rigor as appropriate. Bring super combats as well as bastion or ranging pots. Pre-potting combat and ranging potions at the bank are also options. Also bring 1 anti-poison, or pre-pot at the bank. A serpentine helmet could also be used. The best main melee weapon is the Scythe of Vitur, followed by the Keris partisan of breaching upgraded from TOA raid. After this Inquisitor’s mace, then Abyssal bludgeon or the regular Keris partisan. The fang is also performs well here. The best special attack weapons for the first phase are the elder maul, followed by the dragon warhammer and a defender. Walk under the Queen between special attacks due to the slow speed. The best ranged weapon is the blowpipe with dragon darts, next the twisted bow. The blowpipe special attack could also be used for some healing. Bring an escape teleport. Use high-healing food like manta rays or sharks, I use half manta rays and half karambwan for combo healing. Pre-eat an Angler at the bank to boost HP before going to the Queen.
There is another way to kill the Queen, and that is using max mage with Tumeken’s shadow or Sanguinesti staff and your best magic shield, like the Elidinis’ ward fortified. The Shadow is technically higher DPS and the only magic weapon capable of killing both phases and outperforming the traditional melee and range switches, due to its insane magic accuracy and damage bonuses. However, an option for players that don’t have the Shadow is the Sang staff. While technically overall slower DPS than other methods, I found this method medium-fast and very relaxed due to passive healing and better defense. The quicker 4 tick Sang Staff feels smoother to use, and sometimes you don’t need that massive Shadow 70 hit when the Queen is nearly dead. For either of these max mage methods, you will prayer augury and protect from range the entire fight. Bring a max mage setup. You could bring a Saradomin godsword or blowpipe to heal via special attack on minions between kills, the blowpipe could also be used if you red bar the Queen down to a couple hit points. An Eldrich nightmare staff can be used to restore prayer. Drink super combat or Saradomin brew at the bank mainly for the defense boost. Use the saturated heart or alternative.
