Today we executed the lift of the newly designed Packed Bed Dryer (PBD) internal assembly from its laydown area, through the roof of the building and down into its final positon, above the outfeed system. The redesigned internal assembly allows for increased capacity and improved operational efficiency. The lift entailed two cranes, with 250 tonne and 80 tonne, respectively. The PBD enables controlled, low-temperature drying of the extruded lignite pellets, utilising waste energy harvested from the soon-to-be-installed rotary kiln.
