DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. Battery spot welding can cause explosion and emission of toxic fumes.

I added a digital timer control to this diy 12v battery powered 18650 spot welder. The timer switches 12v current to the solenoid coil terminals. When the coils are energized the solenoid terminals will close for the duration set and effect a spot weld between the nickel strip and 18650 battery terminals.
The Deek Robot dk-c-02 timer should help yield more consistent welds instead of the operator guessing how long the momentary switch should be tapped.
The operation of the timer is explained in another video. For the .1mm nickel strip, I timed my welds to be .2 seconds.
A decent transformer based spot welder would cost well over $250 dollars. I saw many Youtube videos by users spending a great deal of time setting up their store bought welders before they can work properly. Indeed, several videos show users unable to set up the welders, either because of power requirements or they are DOA.
This diy version, while lacking somewhat in versatility and performance, can be made for under $70, battery included. And best of all, took no time to set up. You are seeing the results of a few of my first welds. There is plenty of welding current and best of all, because it is battery powered, will never trip your home circuit breakers. Oh, did I mention you won't have to worry about the danger of AC mains.
