The best positions for breast feeding are: the cross cradle position, the football hold, and the regular cradle position. Sideline position is also excellent if you're going to be in bed, but the three most popular positions would be the cross cradle, the football, and the cradle hold, depending on the age of the baby. Football hold and the cross cradle hold are great for newborns through usually week six or so; could go a little bit longer. The regular cradle hold is much easier after about the six week mark when the baby has better head control, and can support themselves and can latch themselves on by themselves with no assistance. The sideline position is great for any age; we just have to make sure that there are not a lot of pillows on the bed. Any position you use as long as you're comfortable, is absolutely fine. It's a very personal decision as to what you are going to find to be a comfortable position.
