My firm gets a lot of calls about this question: can someone get a license to carry if they have a CWOF on their record? The answer is YES. And like everything else, it depends on the circumstances.
A CWOF does not prohibit a person from having a license to carry firearms. And a CWOF alone does not make someone "unsuitable" by itself. However, if a chief of police finds credible evidence relating to that CWOF that the person is a risk to public safety, that may satisfy the "unsuitability" standard.
Our attorneys have helped many people with CWOFs appeal LTC denials in court. If you were denied a LTC because of a CWOF on your record, call us at 781-797-0555 to see if we can help.
