In Cleveland, a first-of-its kind new program is offering a lifeline to homeless women and children, helping them move from shelter to stable housing, and providing a pathway out of poverty.
“Nobody plans to be homeless,” Linda Uvegas, CEO of The City Mission told 3News in a recent interview. “Nobody says, when I grow up, I look forward to taking my kids to a shelter.”
Yet for many, the struggle to find an affordable home is a harsh reality. But a new initiative is helping to change that.
Laura’s Home, part of The City Mission, has been at full capacity for almost a decade. With 166 beds, including 55 rooms, the shelter has seen a significant rise in demand.
