Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson spoke Monday as the city hosts the Democratic National Convention, where Kamala Harris will step into the spotlight not as a running mate but at the top of the ticket.
"And now Chicago, this city of hard work and caring people, is where Democrats will celebrate President Joe Biden and nominate Kamala Harris for president of the United States of America," Johnson said.
During the convention, delegates will adopt a party platform, and Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz will formally accept the Democratic nominations for president and vice president.
