Blakeney Point is a sand & shingle spit on the North Norfolk coast, extending from Cley beach, 6.4km to the west creating the sheltered harbour of Blakeney Pit with channels leading to Morston and Cley harbour.
It comprises a sandy beach at low tide with shingle banks, marram grass sand dunes and salt marsh to the south.
In mid January, when this was filmed, most of the season's new pups are starting to lose their white coast and have put on huge amounts of weight ready for them to take on the North Sea for the first time.
Many of the seals in this film were filmed resting & quarreling in the brackish/freshwater pools on Blakeney Point, the close-up shots were achieved using a lens with equivalent to 1000mm/20x magnification so a respectful distance was maintained at all times as and you can see, the seals were very relaxed and not bothered by my presence.
