U.S. Army Jungle Warfare Training with Fiji Military Forces. (Labasa, Fiji, 07.31.2019)

This "cross-training" / "cross-cultural" event (known as 'Exercise Cartwheel') took place on July 31, 2019, in Labasa, Fiji and involved Soldiers from Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, Inf. Brigade Combat Team, 25th Inf. Division, from Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, and their sister platoon from Golf Company, 3rd Fiji Infantry Regiment, Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF).

Bilateral military-to-military training is designed to build expeditionary readiness and interoperability; increasing capabilities to face crisis contingencies by developing and stressing units at the highest training levels.

The RFMF annual budget is approximately 100 million USD (2.9% of GDP). As stated on their official website: "The Republic of Fiji Military Forces, under the 2013 Constitution of the Republic of Fiji, is mandated to be the guardian of Fiji carrying out the mandate of the people through our National Administration.

Intent: Transforming the RFMF through capacity building, capability modernization and organization structural alignment

Vision: A Force that is postured correctly to perform its Constitutional Role locally and also ready to tackle the modern-day security challenges brought about by Climate Change, Radicalism and Transnational Crime

Mission: The RFMF will provide the security and defense for the well-being of Fiji and all Fijians
