Just want to share with you one of my hobby is collecting Japanese Kokeshi dolls. I use to buy online or any antique store here in our place.
Kokeshi are simple wooden dolls with no arms or legs. The body often has floral and/or ring designs painted in red, black, and sometimes green, purple, blue, or yellow inks, and covered with a layer of wax. They are handmade from wood, have a simple trunk and head with a few thin, painted lines to define the face. Since the 1950s, kokeshi makers have signed their work, usually on the bottom and sometimes on the back.
Quirky Togatta Kokeshi doll. The tall guy with a bigger head.
Daruma in wood, Japanese lucky charm. This angry little guy is a daruma, a well loved item in the Japanese culture. It represents Bodhidharma. The founder of zen in Japan. Known for its obstinacy, the wooden doll now works as a lucky charm to achieve one’s goal.
Thank you once again for watching.
