The Penguins and Islanders will most likely be jockeying for playoff position until the final day of the regular season, so every game against these divisional foes matters. Frederick Gaudreau got things started for Pittsburgh a little over 5 minutes in, scoring his first goal as a member of the Penguins. Then, Evan Rodrigues ripped a wrister from the top of the circle to put Pittsburgh up 2-0. Sidney Crosby scored just 4:26 into the 2nd period with a power-play tally, and then, the Bryan Rust show began. Rust also added a power-play goal less than two minutes after Crosby's. Then, Rust scored his second of the night just 2:03 after his first goal. The Islanders scored a few, but Bryan Rust finished things off with an empty netter. Tristan Jarry stopped 29 of 32 shots.
