In a world where trust in democracy is at an all-time low, Climate activists are helping bridge the gap between decision makers and citizens. As co-founder of the HERO Circle app, Mauricio Porras explains, not only are these everyday heroes successfully influencing policies for people and the planet, they are also increasing transparency of our democratic institutions across the globe. So why aren’t we funding them properly to do this invaluable work? In comparison fossil fuel lobbyists are pouring millions to influence and access decision makers and politicians. Mauricio believes to restore trust in democracy, it’s time to reimagine activism and make it a paid profession - effectively putting more power in the hands of those who advocate for the many, not the few. Mauricio is the Co-Founder and Chief Mobilization Officer of HERO | herocircle.app, the first subscription platform for citizens to directly fund a stable, monthly income to climate campaigners worldwide. He has more than 10 years of experience as a creative communicator, political strategist, social mobilizer and innovation consultant. His expertise spans corporate social responsibility, activism, conflict resolution, movement building, social entrepreneurship and human-centred storytelling. Mauricio is dedicated to positive global transformation by uniting people at the intersection of technology, purpose and collective action. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
