MY DESIGN
Fofò was born from a commission for a plastic materials company.

He is made with a single piece of polypropylene paper that anyone can assemble. His simple construction is based on hooks and once he is full up with money, you can open him up
and start again,
and again,
and again to save for precious treasures.

ME THE DESIGNER
My name is Edoardo Battaglia, I am Italian and I was born in Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza).
I am now based in London and started working creatively during my studies in Liceo Artistico G. De Fabris (Nove, Vicenza).
My love for the design of the Twentieth Century, and designers such as Achille Castiglioni and Bruno Munari are essential for the development of my work.

My curiosity turns around composition, a child's experience of the world, and the interaction between objects and people. I work with sculpture as well and in this medium, I need to shape something that explains my feelings and sensations, sometimes better than can be done with words.

I am a member of the artistic group “OPPOSTI – Make Art to Survive” founded in 2013 and created from 6 artists of the same age with different skills.

MY GOAL
I am doing a gap year in London and I found work in a coffee shop called Timberyard, in Soho, Central London. I was drawn to Timberyard because it was an incredibly artistic space run by a creative team of people that like to support emerging visionaries. We began talking about Fofò and soon the idea to exhibit and offer him for sale was born.

To manufacture and exhibit Fofò I need to: buy the correct polypropylene materials for fabrication, print high quality photos and make a video about the construction, produce all the packaging for sale (bags, stickers, instructions) and print promotional business cards for all those people that are interested in hearing about Fofò. It is an expensive process. I have calculated the cost of manufacturing 50 Fofò’s plus printing and display for the exhibition to be £500. Timberyard Soho is providing free exhibition space for 6 months.
