Donald Trump has picked his vice president to be Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) through a truth social post. It came out as delegates were announcing Trump as their pick for 2024 Republican presidential nominee. Some delegates we spoke to were slightly perturbed because Trump did not announce his VP pick until after voting began. Once the news was announced the mood completely changed. Ohio delegates became excited and began writing 'Vance' on their Trump signs in anticipation of the senator being officially announced as part of the 2024 ticket.
While Vance is a freshman law maker he became a household name through his book, turned Hollywood movie, Hillbilly eulogy. People do not seem fazed by his lack of political experience. Vance will be addressing the RNC this week for the first time as a presidential nominee.
