Regional Agricultural Research Institute Bahawalpur approved two new varieties of wheat named Nawab-21 and Sadiq-21 in the last year for general cultivation. In this video I am going to introduce you both of these high yielding new varieties of wheat especially developed for south Punjab Pakistan.
Nawab and Sadiq both are medium stature heat tolerant and rust resistant varieties which performed well in the radius of about 100-150 km near the developing institute but Nawab has more yield potential than Sadiq 2022. The yield potential of Nawab-21 is 73 maunds per acre while that of Sadiq -21 has yield potential of only 65 maunds per acre which less than an old variety Ghazi-19 developed by the RARI Bahawalpur in 2019.
As for as thousand grain weight is concerned both have grain weight in the range of 38-40 grams and nawab has protein content UpTo 14 percent and good for making chapati.
Some quantity of zinc is also present in Nawab-21 like Akbar-19 and zincol but in minute quantity only.
So overall both varieties are good for south Punjab but should be sown from 1st to 15 the November for high yield.
These varieties have a prominent character that spikes do not shatter even at full maturity and have ability to resist drought stress.
