In the Rajya Sabha, Derek O'Brien made a fervent plea yesterday for the Prime Minister to address the ongoing turmoil in Manipur. Starting from May 3, 2023, the northeastern state of Manipur in India has been engulfed by clashes rooted in ethno-religious differences. The conflict involves the Meitei community, primarily residing in the Imphal Valley, and the Kuki tribal group inhabiting the nearby hills. The unrest has resulted in a tragic toll, with as many as 181 individuals losing their lives due to the violence as of July 29.
