In a massive jolt to the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC Government in West Bengal, the Kolkata High Court has put the 'Duare Ration' scheme of the government on hold. The High Court, on Wednesday, said that the scheme of the West Bengal government is ultra vires to the National Food Security Act of 2013, and is legally void. As per the NFS Act, free delivery of rations at the doorstep can only take place if the state government has the permission of the Union Legislature. However, since there was no permission sought by the state government from the Centre, the act has been nullified by the High Court for the time being. Watch to know more!
