SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron is a classic cartoon that sadly died too early. It was the number one syndicated animated show of 1994, and a third season was in the works together with toys and posters. But then Ted Turner, the owner of Turner Entertainment, decided to cancel that show with the "sexy cat lady" because he couldn't accept that he found her hot. Or he was a SJW that thought that the show was "too violent". Strange that he didn't cancel Tom & Jerry for the same reason...
Anyway, it was popular to get a Snes game in NA, which was released near when a third season most likely would have started.
The game... it need some tweaking to be really good. Now it is just nothing special with some hard jet fighter stages thrown in between levels.
These are the worst part of the game. You got a picture of your target in the middle of the screen, which slowly turn around and coming closer to you with the power of Mode 7. You can only steer right and left while trying to aim your missiles on attacking enemies.
The other, superior, parts of the game are normal platform gaming with an experience system. Level up and you will get more health and your attacks gets stronger. Level up enough and your weapons are changed and gets a longer range. So if you are having trouble with a level, you can always replay an earlier completed stage to grind some nice experience.
At the start of each level, you get to chose between T-Bone and Razor. T-Bone got a grenade launcher that can blow up some walls, most of the time with some bonus health and experience behind, while Razor got a jetpack that allows you to fly upward for a few seconds, which can help you skip some parts of the levels from time to time.
