I went to film the Branson Scenic in Branson, MO, on the last weekend of November 2020, and ended up getting to see a very rare daylight MNA move, as well. The Missouri & Northern Arkansas (MNA) ran an empty grain northbound on the White River Route, and it happened to have four KCS motors for power.
First, we see the BSR heading south thru a location known as Cricket, near Omaha, AR, followed by the return trip north coming out of the Cricket Tunnel. About an hour or so later, the grain empty rolled thru Cricket Tunnel, and I then chased the train to Branson. They got held up by the BSR's 2 PM run, and once they returned back to Branson, it wouldn't be long before the MNA would show up at my location.
A couple local railfans had also mentioned to me that it has been an extremely long time since any kind of KCS power has shown up in the area, making this a very uncommon occurrence. I also will say that I wish there would not have been so many shadows by the tunnel, but there's really not much that can be done about that..
For my first time railfanning the Branson area, I would say it was pretty successful for what it's worth.
