It Happened!
On October 19, 1469, Ferdinand II of Aragon married Isabella I of Castile in Valladolid, an event that would shape the future of Spain. This marriage united two of the most powerful kingdoms on the Iberian Peninsula—Aragon and Castile—laying the foundation for the eventual unification of Spain. Their union also marked the beginning of a powerful Catholic monarchy, leading to significant events like the Spanish Inquisition and the sponsorship of Christopher Columbus's voyage, which opened the door to the Spanish Empire.
