Try listening to the conga slap that falls on the 2 and 6 counts of the beat.
Also, please try moving your FEET! Do the basic step and a cross body lead to get more comfortable with the moving around to the music.
You'll hear the slap come after the "kun-kun tu-ku" sounds.
The "kun-kun" falls on (8, 8-and) and the "tu-ku" on (1, 1-and).
So the total resulting sound is "kun-kun tu-ku pa", where the "pa" is the slap on the conga.

Remember that dancers use 2 MUSICAL bars/measures to complete one basic step.
