Hi folks! Lori Clemmons here. Wellness coach and neural retraining specialist.

I’ve been getting the same questions lately from clients, from people online, so I wanted to create a video to really address this issue that a lot of people are having.

So, when we first start neural retraining or even if we’ve been at it for a while, there’s a lot of information we just need to figure out - “Am I doing it right?” “Am I doing enough?” “Am I doing too much?” We can really get lost in the details of neural retraining and lose the focus that we need to have in order to make the progress we’re wanting.

So I’ve broken it down into the Three Essential Elements of neural retraining so that you can really assess where you’re at and be able to make a plan to continue to move forward in your program.

The tools and exercises of retraining can be broken down into these Three Essential Elements. As long as you’re focussed on these three elements, you’ll be able to make progress.

The first is Reducing your stress levels, or your triggers. This includes both external and internal stressors. The external stressors would be things like TV, entertainment choices, and social media, our conversations and even some relationships. Avoiding or minimizing anything coming at us from the outside world that may trigger our limbic system into the flight/flight response. It also includes reducing our internal triggers. This would be our limiting beliefs, toxic thoughts, or negative self talk. These can be a bit more difficult to identify, so it takes some time and effort to really be able to dig down and identify some of these long-held beliefs that may be going through our mind and constantly triggering our limbic system. For example, thoughts like “I’ll just never get well”, or “The world is a scary place” or “I’m just not good enough”.

Next is to Refocus our mindset towards the positive. I mean, if all we focus on is identifying and avoiding the negative, we’ll be in a constant state of stress, so we need to replace all those negative thoughts with positive. But this is more than just positive thinking. This is taking time to be aware of the thoughts that are going through our minds, accepting ourselves where we are at right now, finding gratitude around us, and seeing life as an adventure. Even though our life and our health may not be where we’d like it to be, we have the opportunity to make the choice day by day, minute by minute to focus on the positives around us rather than be dragged down by the negative.

And last is to rewire our old patterns. This typically involves visualizations and incremental training which allows us to undo some of those old patterns that have been triggering our limbic system leading to our emotional, mental, and physical symptoms. Then we are able to replace those old patterns with our new positive patterns which allows our limbic system to relax and moves us towards emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing.

So there it is. By evaluating your neural retraining program and seeing how it fits into these three essential elements, you can keep yourself on the right track, making the progress you want to make in your neural retraining program.
