Vardzia in the country of Georgia is a stunning cave complex that can’t be missed on any visit to Georgia. In this video, we continue our Georgian road trip, making a stop in Akhaltsikhe, a southern Georgian city close to Turkey’s border. We check out the impressive, reconstructed Rabati Castle in Akhaltsikhe, before heading over to see the absolutely stunning Vardzia the next day. Vardzia was constructed in the twelfth century during the time of Georgia’s King Tamar (yes, a woman king)! Join us as we check out various rooms and tunnels, meticulously carved into the side of the mountain, before we make short stops at Vanis Kvabebi and the Khertvisi Fortress! Don’t forget to tune in next week, as our adventurous road trip in southern Georgia comes to a close!
