The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) will deliberate on the One Nation, One Election Bill, which proposes simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. The panel consists of 21 members from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha. Union Law Minister Arjun Meghwal tabled the Constitution 129th Amendment Bill 2024 and the Union Territories Laws Amendment Bill 2024 in the Lok Sabha, with a division vote of 269 in favor and 196 against. The JPC will submit its report by the first day of the last week of the Budget session.
