In 2017, the Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) in collaboration with the Institute of Gender and Development Studies: Nita Barrow Unit and UWI TV came together to launch the series "Voices of Women".
Through a series of interviews, this project seeks to highlight women from Barbados and the wider Caribbean, reflecting on their work in the five areas of Education, Community Development, Development work, Healthcare and Politics. The overall aim of this project is to preserve the legacy of Caribbean women, by featuring women from varying backgrounds showcasing their strength, indomitable spirit and invaluable work.
Those honoured were:
Dame Billie Miller, Professor V. Eudine Barriteau, Dr. Ermie Belle, Margaret Gill, Cecilia Babb, Annette Beckett, Sophia Greaves-Broome, Shamelle Rice, Blondelle Mullin, Nalita Gajadhar and Jennifer Walker.
