Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, has challenged political office holders across various political parties to fulfill their promises on gender equity.
In a speech at the ECOWAS Female Parliamentarians Association (ECOFEPA) event held at the National Assembly in Abuja, she stressed the urgent need to address and overcome persistent gender disparities in the political system.
Senator Tinubu commended the House of Representatives for initiating and passing a bill for the second reading that seeks to allocate 70 out of 360 legislative seats to women.
His legislative effort is viewed as a significant step towards improving female representation in Nigeria’s political landscape.
