Traditional Lithuanian ancient song "Kas tar teka per dvarelį"
Unique, very old, but still fascinating polyphony of Lithuania - SUTARTINĖS. This type of music phenomenon protected by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage. This three-part song mentions an ash tree in the chorus, as in many other songs of this type, nature always comes first, the tree, the sun, the moon, the stars, the plants and herbs, rivers and birds are only a small part of the nature sung in the Sutartines. Chants of Nature. About relationships man and Nature. These traditional songs died in the villages, but reborn in the city among modern people, they are very unifying, encourage mutual listening, and give a sense of community. The Sutartines rhythm and monotony are reminiscent of mantras, but the biggest secret in it lies not in listening to them, but in singing them, it is a real meditation, self-control of the moment. The unique practice of singing left to us by our ancestors to calm the heart and mind has survived to this day.
There are different types of Sutartinės, you can read more about it here - [ Ссылка ]
This one is for three voices and is called "trejinė". An ancient word that comes from the time when women sang while working is TREJÕS.
The project is financed by the Lithuanian Council of Culture
