Photosynthesis is famous for allowing plants to gain energy from sunlight. However, a group of sea slugs has figured out how to steal this ability and become solar powered. Join us to learn how these unassuming but beautiful sea creatures have harnessed the power of the sun.
Dr. Michael Middlebrooks is an invertebrate zoologist working at the University of Tampa where he teaches students about the amazing diversity of invertebrate animals. His research interests focus on solar-powered sea slugs, which are able to incorporate chloroplast stolen from algae into their own cells in order to photosynthesize. He is also an avid underwater explorer and scuba diver. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
