The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for the eastern portion of Holmes County until 9:15 p.m. Saturday.

Officials first noticed a severe thunderstorm "capable of producing a tornado" near Berlin just before 8:30 p.m. moving east from Millersburg. Communities expected to be in the storm's path include Farmerstown, Walnut Creek, Sugarcreek, and Winesburg in Holmes County.

Residents in the affected are are urged to take shelter immediately. Flying debris as well as severe damage to homes and trees should be expected.
