San Gimignano in Tuscany, Italy is beloved because of its skyline of medieval towers. Though a unique sight today, pointy skylines were the norm in Tuscany in the Middle Ages.
Historically, the affluent families of San Gimignano indulged themselves in grand building projects, which included the building of 72 stone towers. In 2024, only 14 towers remain to this day.
