Moong ki dal ke pakode ki sabji - मूंग दाल पकोड़े की स्वादिष्ट सब्जी | Dal Palak Pakode ki Sabji
I know the name of this dish is long but recipe doesn’t take that much time. Very different textured recipe than kofta curry or any other North Indian sabzee and high in protein, enjoy.
Ingredients :
1 cup yellow lentils (soak 1/2 cup moong dal in water for 3-4 hours)
Some fresh green chillies
1/2 cup finely chopped spinach/coriander
Some turmeric powder (haldi)
1/2-1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
Salt as per taste
Oil for frying
(1/2 tsp baking soda for quick fermentation)
Pinch of asafoetida powder (hing - optional)
3-4 finely chopped garlic cloves
1 small finely chopped ginger knob
1 medium sized finely chopped onion
1 tsp coriander powder
1.5 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
3 tomato puree
1 tsp sugar (optional)
1/2 cup water
Method :
Take a mixer jar, add 1 cup yellow lentils (soak 1/2 cup moong dal in water for 3-4 hours along with some fresh green chillies)
Churn it to make thick batter (use water as required)
Add 1/2 cup finely chopped spinach/coriander
Add some turmeric powder (haldi)
Add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
Add salt as per taste and mix it well
Rest batter for 4-5 hours (or use 1/2 tsp baking soda for quick fermentation)
Heat up the appam pan, put some oil in all cavities and then batter
Flip when they turn golden-brown and cook other side too
Further to make gravy, heat up another pan
Add some oil (and/or some ghee)
Add 1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
Add a pinch of asafoetida powder (hing - optional)
Add 3-4 finely chopped garlic cloves
Add 1 small finely chopped ginger knob
Add 1 medium sized finely chopped onion
Add salt as per taste, mix it and cook until onion turns golden-brown
Add 1 tsp coriander powder
Add 1.5 tsp red chilli powder
Add some turmeric powder (haldi)
Add 1/2 tsp garam masala and roast it well
Then add 3 tomato puree and mix it well
Cover the lid and cook it on medium flame for 7-8 min
Add 1 tsp sugar (optional to balance sourness)
When gravy turns thicker add 1/2 cup water
Add moong pakode when gravy starts getting bubbles (turn off the heat immediately)
Mix it well, cover the lid for 5-7 min (to absorb gravy)
Take it in a serving plate and top with some coriander leaves
So here's your Moong Dal Pakode ki Sabji ready to serve with roti, rice, puri or even paratha!!!
